New Mandatory Traveler Registration

The regulation governing the submission of traveler reports to the authorities aims to enhance public safety, improve migration management, and facilitate crime prevention in Spain. Below are the key reasons and the most important changes to this regulation, which take effect on December 2, 2024.

Why Are Traveler Reports Sent to Authorities?

Key Changes to the Regulation (Effective December 2, 2024)

  • Real-Time Registration
    Accommodations must submit guest information within 24 hours of check-in, ensuring immediate availability of data for the authorities.

  • Complete Digitalization
    The process will be 100% digital, requiring the use of an approved system that allows for electronic signatures from guests, eliminating paper records.

  • Enhanced Data Security
    Establishments must strictly comply with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), ensuring the protection and confidentiality of travelers’ personal data.

What Information Must Be Submitted to SES Hospedajes?

The SES Hospedajes system, managed by the Ministry of the Interior, requires the following information:Reservation Details:
  • Unique reservation identifier.
  • Check-in and check-out dates.
  • Type of payment used.
Traveler Information:
  • Full name.
  • Identification document (DNI, passport, or equivalent).
  • Date of birth.
  • Residential address.
  • Contact phone number.
  • Electronic signature of the guest.
Minors:
  • For travelers under 18, information about the responsible adult they are traveling with must be included.
  • For travelers under 14, registering their ID or signature is not mandatory, but the relationship with the accompanying adult must be provided.
